Scoring & Soundtrack

Do you make films? Are you working on a television show, web series, or video game? I love those. Even moreso, I like making the soundtacks to them. I’ve spent the last few years expanding, refining, and mastering the ins and outs my sound library. Additionally, over my last 4 years of study, I have become proficient at arranging and engraving sheetmusic for ensembles both small and large. Below are a few samples of works I’ve done either for fun or for projects in progress with creatives as local to me as here in Cincinnati and as far Frankfurt, Germany. Soon after graduation, I will be submitting scores to a handful of competitions to continue honing my abilities and understanding of this practice.

If anything of mine would suit one of your projects, or if you would like me to compose new and original work for your film, animated series, video game, public access television program, art podcast, or whatever, really, I would be delighted to work with you.

About Jack
Whether guiding you through audition material, scoring film, or having played on songs you listen to while you do the dishes, Jack Mansfield always tries and bring a refined but versatile touch and sound to whatever it is he may be working on.  Loved by some, feared by many, Mansfield has been a musician since he was 5 years old when he began his study of classical violin. He remained an active musician throughout his upbringing; taking part in various youth symphonies while studying and performing solo repertoire. At the age of 13, he took up studying percussion and more prominently drum set. Upon finishing high school, he attended the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music where he received his undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies & Performance. Upon graduating, he had performed with not only the school's Lab Band and curricular small ensembles, but also with various bands from around the area in genres ranging from funk, jazz, and latin, to video game soundtrack inspired psychedelic rock.

In early 2021, during his second semester of college, he began instructing a studio of around 20 students at a studio in West Chester, Ohio guiding percussionists of all ages and skill levels. He often assists students in preparing for school & honor band auditions, with recording pre screening material for college applications, or just having a great time learning how to play music. Over these previous years of teaching, Mansfield has become an increasingly experienced and astute instructor for percussion and music in general. Preferring a tailored approach to each student according to their needs, he often drafts unique exercises for each student according to what they are able to grasp most easily. After these exercises are written, they are then made digital and has amassed dozens of written exercises. Many of which look to accomplish similar goals concerning technique and musicality building, but provide several different approaches and avenues to doing so.

Aside from teaching, performing, and recording, he is an avid composer and producer. Mansfield has been working with the Ableton Live suite since enlisted to compose a score for his high school theater department. He composes regularly for his original project, Snowbear, as well as film and media producers from around Cincinnati and the world.

Though Mansfield is young at 22 years old, nearly his entire life has been spent gaining musical experience. With this, he is surely able to make strong contributions to your project, your music education, your short film, or your morning commute playlist.
